Choosing the right calendar

Choosing a calendar to suit your needs and objectives can be daunting, unless you start with the right questions – “What do I want to achieve with my calendars?” & “What is my budget?”   When choosing a calendar, it is very important that those two aspects are realistically aligned. By consulting with a printing consultant or estimator, you can very quickly identify the most cost-effective calendar choice to help you achieve your original goal within a budget.

Probably the most important features of a calendar are; it must be functional and useful, it should be pleasant to the eye and suitable for the space it is used in. Key to all these requirements is the DESIGN and it is hence very important to use a professional designer for the best results.

Calendars can be categorised by where they are used which, as it turns out, is roughly in a cost-of-production order.

Fridge Magnet calendars – cost effective and popular

  • Annual 12 month – Very popular with Estate Agents and businesses providing services to homes.
  • Special Events and series calendars – A great excuse to get your brand on a person’s fridge is to print the dates for World Cup Series or similar events

Desk calendars – the most effective marketing space place to be in

    • Tent calendars – Probably the most inexpensive, easy to distribute and guaranteed to find a spot in front of the most customers.
    • Desk top picture calendars – These flip-over, one month per picture can be quite costly but can be printed digitally for quantities of 50 to 100 and really a great gift for special clients.
  • Desk Pad calendars – Also very popular but unfortunately, they are quite costly, best suited to longer runs and hence only appropriate for higher value clients.

Wall mount calendars – popular and practical

  • Steel rimmed 12 month – These are best suited for the workplace, for distant viewing and are best for quantities of over 150.
  • Hanging picture calendars – The use of pictures can keep your customer engaged all year round and is a great gift for special clients. Can be produced either in a booklet form or a flip-style / wiro-bound style.
  • Personalised hanging calendars – Digital printing allows us to make one-offs and print as little or as many as we like. Designs are usually inexpensively done using existing templates. They make very popular and very personal gifts when making use of your own photographs.

Calendars are very welcomed gifts and gets your brand in front of clients, provide functional pleasure, and gets deployed in your client’s (or family’s) space, all year round, constantly reminding them of you. A well-designed calendar can be a wealth of information and despite this digital age, it is the one application where a printed version simply works!
