A positive customer experience is the lifeblood of any business and one of the best ways to ensure repeat business. When a company is paying good money for training, a lot of the deliverables are intangible and only seen once the training is put into practice. The key...

People are often puzzled and surprised to discover that, as an electronic engineer, I find myself owning and managing a printing business. For me the answer is clear, I have always enjoyed the creative process behind any design. As part of my studies, I also got to be exposed to the marvellous world of colour and lighting. Ironically, as a project engineer, I was also exposed to the importance of document creation and presenting designs effectively on paper.
I never consciously realised it at the time, when my wife and I were seeking out a business idea back in 1998, but these aspects have come together beautifully and given me over 25 years of enjoying the world of colour, design, documentation and the fascinating technical aspects behind the process of printing. It is an amazing world that has become more than just a business to me. It has become a passion.
Design principles are universal. You must look at the desired goal, specify what you want to achieve and then use the means at your disposal to achieve that goal. From an impactful business card to a huge sign, you can read while driving at 60 km/h, conscious design will make sure that what you produce, will fulfil its desired outcome.
As a part of creating anything from a business card to brochures, posters, training manuals, catalogues and practical things like invoice books, we have used litho presses, a variety of finishing equipment and ultimately moved strongly into the world of digital printing.
Understanding the technical aspects of lithographic printing, digital printing, the fundamental “how and why” of the entire process, has been at the core of leading a team that fully understands and knows exactly how to get the best printing results.
Project management principles learnt on large development projects in my previous career have also been very pertinent when making sure we deliver printing on-time and to specification.
So, if you ever wondered, it is no mistake that a corporate trained manager and ex-electronic engineer has put together a team that not only enjoys what they do, they are rather good at it.
It has to be said however, that none of the above would have worked, were it not for the excellent partner I “teamed up with” on this journey. As they say: “Behind every man, there is . . . “. But that is another story and fundamental to the fully well-round team that is Revprint.
For that, you will need to look at Jane Fuller’s bio. My wife and business partner, who contributes her own set of unique skills, has been integral to our development over the years.
Do Duplicate Books still have a place?
It seems that everything is heading paper-less, digital, online and, one can be forgiven for wondering why, in this day and age, are we still using the tried and tested duplicate book? Surely its time has passed. Surely there are more efficient ways to do things...
